Our Story

Formed in 2019 by Shane Lovegrove and Matt Shaw, Dovetail provides valuable commercial and procurement advice to Australian businesses across a range of industries.

Our consultants come from long careers in some of the world’s leading private and public sector names, living through the full spectrum of challenges and opportunities that well-crafted procurement practices can address. We bring benefit to our clients by saving them time and money with tailored solutions that leverage our knowledge of the market and the ‘snakes and ladders’ that we have previously experienced.

We provide well considered and discrete advice with common sense and pragmatism at its heart. Our work is skilful and accurate in its execution.

We never chance our reputation and our relationship with clients and our industry. We are careful with what we promise and deliver to our commitments.

Our fees structures are accessible to all types of organisation and as well as Mining, Healthcare, Public Sector and Agriculture clients we have a thriving Not for Profit practice to which we commit a portion of our time pro bono.

Within the bounds of our client’s reasonable expectations, we offer our consultants flexibility in where and how they work and aim to be an employer of choice for women, those returning to work and people of all backgrounds and stories.

Matt Shaw
Director / Co-Founder
LLB Law (Hons), Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (UK)

Matt has 25 years Commercial and Procurement experience across multiple industries including Mining, FMCG, Banking, Healthcare and Government in the US, Australia and UK.

His career has been divided between building and leading BAU Procurement teams and the Commercial Leadership of major technology programs.

Matt is an expert commercial negotiator and an SME in technology hardware and infrastructure, services and software licensing.

Shane Lovegrove
Director / Co-Founder
BCom, World Commerce and Contracting

Shane has 25 years Commercial and Procurement experience across multiple industries including Mining, Technology, Correctional and Government in the Australia and UK.

He has built a career as a leader of high performing Procurement teams more recently transitioning into Strategy and Commercial Leadership of two leading technology programs at South32 and Fortescue Metals Group.

Shane is an expert commercial negotiator and has significant procurement experience in the full Technology suite.
